D'Angelico Guitars - Excel - Lexington SD-300
Back throughout the entire 19th and first couple of decades of the 20th centuries, parlor and classical-sized guitars were the standard. Sometimes during the second decade, C.F. Martin Guitars came up with the spacious and loud guitar named dreadnought and changed the acoustic guitar industry forever. Excel Lexington is D`Angelico`s vintage/modern take on the perennial concept. It comes with a rather conventional chassis, outfitted with retro styling and modern electronics. The chassis is made up of solid sapele back, laminated sapele sides, solid spruce top, solid mahogany neck and a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard (1-11/16" nut, medium jumbo frets, block inlays). Major hardware and electronics features include a fixed rosewood bridge (bone saddle, creme-colored string pins), Fishman INK-4 pickup/preamp combo and Grover Rotomatic tuners.
